JUST IN: Whoopi Goldberg just tried to mouth off to Meghan McCain on “The View,” but it didn’t end well for her.
Earlier this week, we reported that Joy Behar insulted millions of Christians when she suggested that Vice President Mike Pence might have a “mental illness” because he believed that Jesus is talking to him. Whoopi Goldberg tried to help her good friend Behar backtrack on Thursday, but Meghan McCain wasn’t having any of it.
“I’m a Christian. I gave — I give money to the church,” Behar declared, according to Bizpac Review. “You know? I mean, I actually help Christians with my pocketbook. So I’m not insulting Christians.”
As the other hosts tried to defend Behar, McCain finally got her chance to speak, admitting that “there’s going to be a point in time when I probably say something on this show that gets everybody riled up.”
“I’ve had a very hard time the last two days with this. My in-laws are evangelical. My entire family are devoutly Christian. If you watch the segment, I’m so uncomfortable. I think Sherri even made a comment about how uncomfortable I looked at the time,” McCain said. “And I think we’re living in incredibly divisive times right now. We all know that. But I think as a Republican, I feel like sometimes liberals say, ‘We need to be tolerant of everyone. We need to be tolerant of everyone. Except pro-lifers, except Trump supporters, except gun owners, except for everyone in the red in the middle of the country…”
“This is a show where we respect one another and we respect everyone else in the country,” Meghan McCain says as the co-hosts respond to criticism of comments made on @TheView about Vice Pres. Pence and faith earlier this week. See their conversation: pic.twitter.com/g0lrQRBggP

Unfortunately, Whoopi then frantically interrupted McCain.
“I think that’s — I’m going to stop you because that’s not — that’s not actually true,” Whoopi interjected. “And I don’t want to — And I’m stopping you for a reason. I’m stopping you for a reason.”
“We don’t want to talk about liberals and what they’re doing and everything,” Goldberg said, making it clear ABC had told her to cut off McCain. “I’m trying to get out of this because this is what they’ve asked me to do. So, if you could do it sort of quickly…”
Undeterred, McCain shut Whoopi and Behar down once and for all.
“I would like to move forward. I think we would all like to collectively move forward,” she said. “I am a big admirer of Mike Pence and his family, and I would like to apologize to him and his family in particular.”
